Bunnell Street Arts Center, a non-profit organization, provides an Independent Artist In the Schools Program following the Alaska State Council on the Arts guidelines, featuring artists in the State's Talent Bank/Roster. AIS residencies are instructed by professional artists throughout the school year on a first-come, first-serve basis. Schools from Anchor Point to the head of Kachemak Bay may apply to participate in this program with a letter stating their interest in participating and a participation fee. Priority is given to schools not already served by independent participation in the State's Artist in the Schools program. Schools with over 100 students are strongly encouraged to take a two-week program. Bunnell Street Arts Center's Independent Artist in the Schools program is funded in part by grants from private donors including Jewel, Conoco Phillips, the Alaska State Council on the Arts with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Rasmuson Foundation.
Programs : Theater/acting, Filmmaking, Ceramics, Poetry and/or Fiction-writing, Painting, Storytelling/percussion, Dance, Jewelry-making, Mask-making, Collage, Printmaking, and Puppetry.
